Frankly it is get exhausting when every forum thread gets side tracked on trying to reengineer everything, or telling people that the original parts or design are crap.

I'm trying to be quiet and stay out of these type discussions but I have to say I fully agree with everything Big Kev has to say on this. I don't think anyone will disagree that today's cars are vastly superior to the cars of 50-75 years ago. Dual break systems are a good example. With most old car enthusiasts that is far from the point. I, for one, am far more interested in seeing what technology offered 50-75 years ago than I am in throwing it all out and replacing it with current technology. To stretch a point, The body of a 53 Packard Clipper is probably not as aerodynamic as a new Honda so we should throw out that design and replace it with a better engineered body. What would you have left? Not much.
These cars are a part of automotive history. If we change them for any reason we are defeating the whole premise of preservation.
