Kevin, I applaud your efforts in the restoration and I think an aux tranny cooler is a good idea. However I think if you mounted it upright you would get much better airflow over a larger area than your slanted mount. To take it to the extreme, think about how much airflow you would have if it were laying completely flat? I have attached a pic of mine to show you what I mean.

I use Valvoline type FA fluid.
