Try medical. A mfgs rep can't go to ordinary store and buy or install any part that might affect the output or operation of an FDA certified unit. Instead has to be supplied by mfg to ensure part meets their specs. Some parts are mfg made assys only so understandable, but others are usually exact same part you can get from electronic or other store. Sometimes parts dept just picks up a catalog and orders but still considered a mfgs part because it was supplied by mfg. Cust pays anywhere from a hundred to a thousand to unbelievable percent more on the mfg supplied parts. Irony is if cust has their own biomed capable of working on system, they can buy the inexpensive part and install and be perfectly legal because they own the system. They cannot buy and let me install though because that would mean the mfg "blessed" it.
