The 288 and 327 family of engines are the "common" type referred to by HH56 while the 356 cited is much rarer. You'll need to determine which engine is being used in the Packard you're interested in. The data plate on the firewall/cowl showing the model information and the engine number, stamped in block, will help determine that.
