Noel's Run South - Sunday 3rd April 2011

Packard Automobile Club of Australia's(PACA) monthly run for April for Sydney based PACA members was organised by PackardInfo member Tabletennissport, aka Noel. Most of PACA's monthly runs take place on Sydney's northside, but seeing Noel lives on the southside he organised this run to suit himself. Just kidding! 
Why he organised it was to 1) Visit PACA members Frank and Teresa who had recently imported a '34 Twelve Formal Sedan bought off eBay last year, they live in a semi-rural area south of Sydney, and 2) To visit the New South Wales Rail Transport Museum at Thirlmere which is even further south! A couple of members even came from way out west Larry51 Lee and wife Marilyn a 110 mile trip to Liverpool and Packard34 Mat a 150 mile trip to the runs start. Met up at McDonalds at Liverpool, a south western suburb of Sydney. From there, we convoyed to Frank and Teresa's house where another couple of southern based PACA members joined us.
After viewing Frank's cars, 2 Packards, 2 Caddies a Chrysler and a Buick and partaking of a fabulous morning tea prepared by Teresa we then convoyed to Thirlmere. There we were met by Peter Packard and wife Ann who'd journeyed up from Canberra, which is 130 miles south and Australia's capital city, in their '56 Patrician. The Pat is one of 7 road going Packards they have, as well as 40+ motorcycles! We then lunched at the Gourmet Pie Shop at Thirlmere with most continuing on to the Rail Museum. However Kath and I returned home accompanied by Harvey and Carol for part of the journey. Reason being it was Open Day at the Museum after it had been closed to the public for a while. And every train fanatic in Sydney, together with their grandchildren, seemed to be there!
