Saturday our Packard Club visited Temora Aviation Museum which was having a "Flying Day". 7 Packards in attendance, most having driven 400kms to attend. 5 "Warbirds" took to the air being: CA-13 Boomerang, CA-16 Wirraway, Curtis P 40 Kittyhawk, Gloster Meteor and a Supermarine Spitfire Mk V111. The Mk V111 came from the factory with a RR Merlin but this example was fitted with a Packard Merlin. After the airshow and the crowds had dispersed we were able to line the Packards up with the Mk V111 for photo ops. Also was able to talk with the pilot of the Wirraway, who is the chief engineer at Temora. The pilot is restoring a pre WW2 plane, the interior of which was designed by Raymond Loewy. And when he saw the interior door handles on our members '36 120B Convertible Coupe announced they were the same handles as those he requires for his restoration! Note, the plane is also fitted with Bedford Cord upholstery.
