Not sure what you found unusual about the VN, it's straight forward - a 1936 120 (120B) commercial chassis (A), the 65th(?) such chassis built.

Could possibly be a left over 1935 cowl stamping, the theft-proof is right on the cusp between 1935 and 1936 120s, a bit of a blackhole in the known data.
