Very solid unrestored 1939 120 Convertible Coupe now offered for sale after 50 year family ownership

This car is currently owned by GeorgeN who has listed it on our Vehicle Registry. I had the pleasure of meeting him yesterday and seeing the car. George is not a frequent visitor to our site here and has asked for my help in finding a buyer as he is not that knowledgeable about Packards.

Here is the story of this car. According to the data plate, this Packard was originally sold in Queens, New York and has spent its entire life in the Greater NYC area. GeorgeN's late father purchased the car in NYC in 1972 and drove it to local shows for a few years before parking it in a secure storage garage around 1978 where it has sat ever since. He always intended to fully restore the car but was never able to do so. Sadly, he passed away about five years ago without ever getting the Packard back on the road. GeorgeN and his family have now decided to put the car up for sale.

I went to look at the car yesterday and took a number of photos. The sheet metal is exceptionally straight and solid, especially for this model. Floors are perfect and the alignment of the doors and body panels are nice and even. I went over the entire car with a magnet and could not detect any body filler. The only rust I could find is a very small amount along the bottom end of the driver's side door. The car is very complete and original and a number of items which are frequently missing, such as the sun visors and splash guards, are all in place. Interior needs to be redone, especially the front seat, but there is enough there for patterns and some original panels might possibly be reused. The car also has some very desirable options, including a deluxe radio, Packard driving lights, banjo style wheel and, of course, a goddess radiator ornament. Given the condition of the body and the car's completeness, it would be an excellent candidate for a concours restoration.

Photos are attached. Right now, the family is looking for reasonable offers on the vehicle. If you do have an interest, please send me a private message on this site and I will forward your information. Thank you for your interest.
