Uhm, I think that might be a bad idea. Essentially, you are creating a numbers matching car that is not a numbers matching car. To me, that is probably fraud (perhaps not in the legal sense) unless thoroughly documented and conveyed to buyers.
Just something to think about. BTW, I am not accusing you of potential fraud, I believe you are trying to do the right thing regarding the car.
