As mentioned, if it's broken off then I strongly suggest you look at the speedometer before another cable. There is normally very little load because there is nothing more than a spinning magnet and a couple of gears inside. I've seen cables dry out or kink from no lube or too sharp a bend in housing, but to actually break there has to be a substantial load or misalignment. I would just verify something has not been either damaged or the lube totally dried in the speedo head to cause the break.
