Yes, the ign and door use the same key. The door lock should turn in both directions so if it does not, there are a couple of possibilities.
If the lock cylinder assy was removed from the door it is possible the square shaft and square receiver in the latch part were not in the correct relationship when reinstalled --maybe 90 degrees out. If that has happened the door part could be preventing rotation.

Another possibility is the cylinder has a worn tumbler which isn't fully retracting flush when the key is inserted letting an edge catch -- some debris could also be inside.

The cylinder can be removed from the housing but it needs the key to be able to rotate the cylinder while the release pin is depressed.
