water pump swap early 48 on a 51 288

Hello, I have begun working on a packard engine rebuild and would like to swap the water pump from a early 48 288 to my 51 288. The 1951 pump moves my cooling fan to the driver side of the car and I would like to keep the original 48 288 fan location. Will the 48 pump just bolt on? I dont have a 48 pump to try on the car. I would just like to know before I buy a pump and not have it work.Thanks for all of your help in advance.
