Acceleration torque steer

My 50 is suffering from quote severe torque steer when acceleration sharply. I have been advised that it is a rear suspension issue - either a broken leaf spring or a broken leaf spring center bolt. It is a funny feeling as the car seems to pull sharply left on acceleration and then seems to fall down flat when lifting of the power. It seems dangerous as if it will loose control. What is your opinions? I cannot see anything obviously broken with the car on the ground.
