The 55-56 tanks have nothing in the vent line except a path for air. Unless something managed to get in that small tube from the top or sloshing compound from the bottom or perhaps the short piece of rubber hose in the middle developed a problem and kinked or collapsed, I would more suspect something with the filling station nozzle. Did they change brands or type recently. Some of the nozzles seem more temperamental than others.

You might try lifting the rubber bellows slightly to provide an air escape. I know it defeats the purpose of the vapor reclaiming but I have to do that when filling gas cans.
