Howard, Well I can now see that an L bracket could be fabricated quite easily to mount the shield to the fuel pump bolt. There is no evidence of a bracket having been welded or riveted other than the one for the manifold so possibly it was bolted on and the slot was used for adjustment? This is a picture of the shield. Note bracket on top and the hole and slot at the opposite end. If not for a 356 then what engine?
