The sender isn’t something that has to be replaced often (or even at all in many cases) so I can’t see why anyone would want to butcher the car with a hole in the floor. I’m replacing the sender in my 1951 Henney but only because it sat untouched for decades but under normal or even just occasional use, you should never have to touch it. Once fixed, it should stay fixed so why not just drop the tank and do it right the first time?
