Re: Clock stopped working after 3 weeks

(Apologies in advance if my older clock is drastically different but thought to share my experience with a 39 clock.)

The clock guy I know here has had me run the clock off a battery after oiling/cleaning. A mixture of things such as the contacts for the "winding" he has noted may need to work themselves a bit continuously for at least a few weeks outside of the car before reinstalling. There may be some other things to note but those are the biggies. He said it may take a re-oiling and running a few times to get it where it needs to be. Also, an advantage to having the clock out is it's a bit easier to spend time watching the movement, seeing the contact and timing the run time between rewinding. I have found my 39 clock to range between 4-6 minutes and not necessarily decreasing which is what you want to observe-- the contact being impactful there. Decent soldering, etc. can put better meat on it.
