Yes but there's very little difference between 6V and 12V wiring. 12V is a bit cheaper since you can use thinner wire. But if I were you, I would rewire with the original wire gauges, so you're not stuck with 12V.

Again you will need to replace the charging system as well as the starter, and also every bulb in the car. It adds up to a good amount of time and cost.
