1948 288 fuel pump

I have been fighting the installation of the pump. I have tried to the best of my ability to get the cam lobe in the right position.
When installing the pump it sits up against the block but the holes are about 1/4” to high. Is it possible there are different lengths of arms ? Mine seems to be long and it hits the cam too soon.
