A new 1953 Caribbean at the Desert Inn would have been lovely (they had one for a courtesy car).

Meanwhile... over at the Flamingo, down the strip from the Desert Inn... there was this beautiful ancestor to the Caribbean. I'll take the Pan American.

And... meanwhile again, relatives and family friend, boxer Joe Louis, were across town opening the brand new Moulin Rouge.... which made the cover of LIFE magazine that year. There were more than a few Packards parked in the lot there too!

It was a very, very different town back then.
