Nope, no legpulling. The oil filter was optional on the 288. Standard on the 356. Oil was relatively cheap and folks changed it often.

If you get the long 'Oil Bath' over-engine unit then you'll need the bracket on the drivers side. I think most 288's had the air filter that mounted directly to the carburetor with a support bracket going to the head. The Oil Bath air cleaner would have been optional on the 288 (I think).
