I don't think those temperatures that J-B can tolerate are nearly high enough. That's a pretty tough environment for any organic material to take, but it might have a better chance if you layered it over with furnace cement. Still, I'd say any repair method short of welding is questionable, and cast iron welding is a bit of an art, requiring LONG heatup and cool down periods at controlloed rates and isn't a 100% sure thing either on a part that's subject to extreme heating and cooling cycles.

Still, you've got nothing to loose by giving it a try, other than your own time and effort and a few $s.
