I ended up purchasing the entire drive train from the 2392 four door sedan, Standard Eight I found in the junk yard last week. The engine number is H261253. As I understand it, this is basically the same engine as in my 51 200 w/overdrive, other than the higher-mounted water pump and fan. The old engine has all of the accessories except for the air cleaner, so it is going to be warehoused for future repairs/replacement. The question is the rear axle. It's included in my purchase (as long as I remove it). I don't know if the car has overdrive or not, as the tires are flat and the car is too low to look under and I forgot to look for the o/d knob by the steering wheel. The question is "is the 50 axle the same as the 51?" I would like to have a slightly higher drive ratio that I have now for more relaxed highway driving, but even if it is the same ratio, it would be nice to have for a spare. Comments and guidance?
