Bob,

Dan is using Silicon brake fluid which has been shown over and over to damage the style of presure brake switches that are using on the Packards. The Silicon pentrates into the switch and basically fouls it. That is the reason Dan, and a few other people have adapted non-pressure style switches to trigger the brake lights.

If a person has decided to stick with Dot 3(or Dot 4), then this type of modification would not be required.
