359 Cracked Block

Still curious about the cracked 359 block that riki got from packardsouthwest. The crack goes from an intake valve seat to its cylinder. Is this where they usually crack in this engine? I would have thought that cracking would occur from an exhaust valve seat because of the higher temps due to the exhaust gases. Thanks.
