As far as performance goes, the Packard straight eight might just fool you.

When it was a new car the hot performers were the V8 Chrysler, Cadillac and Oldsmobile. The Packard was seen as an old man's car yet in terms of speed, was not far off the V8 mark. Top speed of the Packard 400 was 101 or 102 MPH compared to 110 for the Chrysler and 105 for the Cadillac.

If the straight eight is running right you will have no problem keeping up with traffic, climbing any main road hill in high gear, or cruising on the hiway at 70MPH.
