The correct carburetor for you car would have been a Carter WDO-531 SA. That is one model of the WDO series which has many variations but any service guide on the WDO series would be useful; confirmation that you have the right one would come from the triangular brass tag (assuming it's still present) with that number attached to one of the float bowl cover screws. Adjustment/specifications and an illustrated guide to service are given in the 1949 Motor's Manual in addition to whatever information Packard published. If you buy a good quality rebuild kit they also generally come with abbreviated instructions and adjustment information. My recommendation for a source of rebuild kits is Daytona Parts in FL. Go to their website and you can identify the proper kit once you've verified that your car has the correct carburetor. The WDO series were excellent carburetors.
