Here on the east coast were a lot of people heat their homes with oil. Qualified installers installing oil furnaces
make the connection between the oil tank and furnace using copper pipe and flair fittings.

Even though there is no pressure in the oil feed going to the furnace, if compression fittings are used, the installation doesn't pass inspection.

I would only use any kind of compression fittings on steal gas supply lines as a last resort.
