Chacun à son goût as they say or everybody has their own taste. That's a general statement and includes biscuits as well as car roofs. The latter is the most controversial part of the Packard Phantom. To me it looks like a clash of three styles. From the front backwarts it starts with a massive rectangular frame of the parted windshield, typical for its time, followed by an ultramodern three-dimensional curved top, that consists of transparent plastics to end in a rear part made of steel, reminiscent of the carriage age including landau bars without function.
Don't know if you know but an early version of the iconic futurliner came with a bubble top that boiled the drivers. To read more about bobble tops, this way, please.
