I moved the heater element over to the good housing with the good motor. Testing with the wiring in series on 12v and it blowing good air and only pulling about 2amps. Starting at 2.15 amps and went down to 1.94amps the longer it ran.

The amount of air moving over the coil didn't warm the air that much and the coil never glowed red. But once the power was cut, you could feel the residual heat on the coil.

So I tested with the wiring in parallel and it pulled about 4.3 amps. The motor didn't seem any appreciably faster, and the air was warmer, but coil never glowed. But you could feel more heat coming off of it.

I think the amount of air pushing over the coil keeps the coil from getting too hot.
