Check the rocker panel bottoms and inner for holes/ poor workmanship. Steering should not be sloppy or wander. Driving in H you should feel one decent shift as the convertor locks up somewhere between 15 and 40 under moderate accel. Of course the engine should sound even and not smoke. Ride is somewhat floaty, but not bobbing up and down.
