Unplugging a Scully Ventalarm

Well here I go again, I started working on an Off the Shelf Gas Sender and I find another problem. So now I need to get this fixed before I can finish that project. While filling the tank with liquid (after about five gallons) the tank burped at me and spit out about a quart of liquid. That was when I noticed the tank wasn't vented. Since the tank had been coated inside the Ventalarm had been pluged.
Now I'm trying to unplug it, I've tried blowing air (about 150 PSI but not a good seal) but no help.
Next step I'm thinking about is drilling a hole in the top of the Ventalarm and see if I can poke a hole through the sealer.
Has anybody had a problem like this and if so how did you fix it?
Any help?
Wes
