I have bell housings from 1940 to the '50s and they are the same thickness so, if standard transmission, there should be no problem especially if using the original transmission. However, as Howard pointed out, if the car has Electromatic Clutch, the 327 would not have the mounts for the diaphragm assembly and the head wouldn't have the bosses where the control valve assembly mounted.
