Good point. If the fuel is coming more from the engine side of the pump, as I recall there is a small breather hole in the casting up near the mounting bolts. If fuel is getting thru the diaphragm and out the breather then I would also be concerned that it may be getting into the engine via the actuating lever hole and diluting the oil.
