1953 clipper special rear dome light

I'm new to Packard and have a dome light question the owners manual doesn't address.
when opening the front doors only the front interior lights come on, should the rear dome light also come on. the rear reading/dome light works with the switch on the B pillar.
I have the shop manual and it shows the wiring, i'm wondering if the special dome light isn't connected to the front door switch.
