1953 leaf spring removal

I plan to remove the leaf springs. New bushings liners etc. The 3 nuts come off easily but they seem to be studs and not bolts. The manual was no help. Do I just hammer the 3 studs out? I don't want to mess it up. The shocks are unbolted. The axle is supported off the leafs. Any suggestions?
