Engine Code Questions

On my 327 Patrician engine, serial
#L600082 I am wondering what the stampings/codes translate to:
-On the block's top surface at the rear behind #8 cyl. is the stamping B5. Any idea what this relates to?
-On the centre of the head is a date wheel with a 7 on the pointer and it canted to the left top centre pip. There are 9. This must translate to a casting date, maybe there was only 9 months of production?
The last is just a curiosity, you can see a number that appears to be 288 has been haphazardly ground off and a very faint 327 has been stamped into the fastener rail above it, guess they did not use inserts for the cubic inch identity between similar castings, or that the head being identical was used up from stock of 288's but renumbered so as to avoid confusion to the motor's actual identity.
Thanks
Bob J.
