I believe TxGoat may be correct and the H designation was stamped for an easy way to identify the late to arrive 288 higher compression heads mentioned in the service article.

Seem to recall reading there was also a different head used in cars with Ultramatics that also raised the compression slightly for a bit more horsepower but don't remember by how much. Those might have been used more on the 327 and believe they had an AT designation stamped or cast. There is probably a service article on them somewhere.
