Quick solution on these! I ended up buying a set of 5/8" diameter 80x80 stainless steel mesh discs from McMaster. Wish I'd bumped up to 100x100, but should still provide some protection. Used a 7/16" hollow hole punch to cut the disc for starter switch, and used a little small cylindrical grinding attachment on a Dremel to cut the little notches for the accelerator pump. Easy enough to keep these a part of the rebuild. Thanks, everybody!
