Air Cleaner Element

Is anyone aware of a replacement air lifter element for 51-54 Packards that use the NON-oil bath air filters?
The one on my '54 (Flying saucer style), its filter element is sheading metal strands and I dont want those getting sucked down into my carb.
I ofter wonder if a foam style element could be retrofitted to work between the wire mesh holders.
