Great timing on this question as I just pulled the seat out of my car to vacuum up the rat nesting and give me easier access to pull out the dash.

The part you bought is for a Senior car.

The '54 Clippers just have a simple plastic knob the same color as the seat surround that pushes onto that metal lever you see on your seat in the picture.

I'll try to get you a picture of what it look like.
