I put my 288 manifolds/carb on the 327 and it was fine until i got a vacuum leak. Putting better gaskets on now.


Smaller runner ports would increase incoming air velocity which usually results in better throttle response and better idle mixture tunability.

Since these motors have mild cams and no idle mixture issues, and i don't run mine wide open where the smaller runners would make a difference, and the throttle response difference is minor, i don't think you'd notice any difference, at least i didn't.

I'd have put the 4bbl one on, but then i'd have to tap it for 23rd series linkage, find a 4bbl carb with integrated starter switch, etc. Too much hassle for my project.
