Like I stated earlier, page 5 engine section of the 46-50 Packard service manual addresses the issue. I'm a do-it-yourselfer with a 46 clipper deluxe, a service manual and some tools and managed to remove my oil pan. Maybe your brother has a Packard mechanic in his hometown or nearby!
