Prewar at least they used rayon flock and a flock adhesive--although the mention of synthetic varnish raises a question. I expect they stayed with a proven solution postwar but not sure what the colors were. They give the name for the prewar flock but I have been unable to find anything modern that replicates the feel and size of the fibers used in the 51-4s. Everything today seems a much smaller or finer fiber. The adhesive DonJer sells for their flock is like a thick paint.
