If you go to the literature and manuals section, you'll find a not-very-good picture in the 1948 accessories manual. Also there is a decent picture in the Spring 2011 issue of The Packard Cormorant; I'd scan it but it's a copyrighted publication.

In brief, it's round, it's got a naked metal finish, perhaps cadmium. It had a small bulb and socket connected to a mercury switch so that it goes on the when the trunk lid pitches upwards. The feed wire (trusting my memory on all this) goes off to the driver side of the car joining a body harness. The lamp is covered with a round, also naked metal, rotating cover with an opening so you can direct the light somewhat.
