Factory AC and glovebox.

A question for anyone who might have removed the glovebox in a car with factory AC.

How did you do it -- remove or just slide it to one side or has no one ever had to remove their radio and is all still factory original.

I'm in the process of putting everything back together after my complete build of the unit (it blows cold air, thank you very much) and just got to thinking and wondering how mechanics performed that glovebox function if one was damaged. I doubt they would have mutilated the new box or dropped the dash. Aside from those options, there is no way that I can see to shove a box roughly 15" x 7" x 7" (shortened AC version) into a space between the dash bottom edge and AC evap box that is only 5" wide. The box does have to move to remove the radio tuner section. It could probably slide over once the radio power supply section is removed but sure won't come out. The factory field AC install manual has them mount the new box in dash before reinstalling the modified dash with added switch.

It's not a problem on this end because I already know what I will be doing since I've done it before with the old box. My method uses a box which I will construct so it can fold slightly and slide in the regular opening. Will get to work on the boxes again now that the other stuff is done. AFAIK, the factory didn't do anything that special so just wondered what they did do.

Here's a couple of photos of my end product. The repro vents are good at 10' but I'm tired of looking at them and still debating about making another and different mold to cast better ones. They will do till then.
