I've used Berg's tools on four 55-56 Packards that I've owned (and more than once on some) and nothing ever came loose.

BTW, what's up with the damage on the frame shown in the pic that you provided as evidence (in post #12)?
If the frame is sound, how's that tool, when locked in as shown, gonna move even "a couple of 1/16s of an inch" to lose its perch?
