The switch is held in by pins on the switch engaging in some hooks or ears on the bezel. A spring keeps pressure between the two.
When removing the switch be careful to not force anything and disconnect the battery to prevent any surprises.
Hold the bezel with one hand and with the other hand reach under the dash to push the switch toward the bezel against the spring. Once the switch is pushed in a small amount, rotate it slightly in the direction toward the glovebox. Pins should pass over the hooks and line up with a slot so the switch can be pulled back and clear.
Here is a couple of photos showing the bezel and how switch looks from behind the dash. Examine your bezel carefully. Typically the ears or hooks can get bent from use and the continued spring pressure and sometimes break off completely.
