Or you could replace the BTV with a non-power dual master cylinder. You would not have power brakes, but you would have the safety of a dual brake system.
Should not be too hard to do as the 51-56 standard brake pedal and linkage parts are readily available and will bolt right on. Some work to adapt a new master cylinder, but that should be relatively easy too.
I had the BTV removed from my formerly owned 55 Clipper and replaced with standard brake pedal and master cylinder. Braking was easy and smooth, and dependable.
