I'll take a wild guess on this:

Look at the TRANSMISSION bolt hole spacing on the bellhousing. I'm not familiar enuf with the Packard std trans as well as pictures can be deceiving.

But it appears to me that the trans bolt hole spacing is rather LARGE for an AUTOMOTIVE or lite truck application.

So my guess is that some quanttity of bellhousings were made probably for some mediam to heavy truck application. OR some other non-passenger car application.

Probably MAck truck.
